Putlog scaffolds

We mainly use putlog platforms on building sites throughout Hampshire where the works are progressive (eg new builds). This structure is built using 5ft tubes with putlog adaptors attached to the ends which are inserted into or onto the brickwork, so that the build can progress without any delays. Please ask for more info on our putlog scaffolds.

We ensure our working platforms are safe, secure, and go up and are taken down within your timescales.

Whatever your needs our scaffolders will ensure you get the working platform you want to be able to access your chimney safely.

Staircases

Staircase scaffolds can be required on construction sites or on external buildings as a temporary fire escape. We have two different types of staircases that our Portsmouth scaffolding erectors can erect for you. First is the traditional scaffold staircase using steel tube and couplers. Second is the Haki staircase system, and with both systems we will supply, erect, and dismantle for you.

Common questions scaffolding companies get asked.

On most occasions we do have the ability to fit in a job the very next day in Portsmouth or Hampshire, but it all depends on the size and type of scaffolds you require. Please let our scaffolding Portsmouth team know if you require scaffold in a rush and we will endeavour to fit you in.

We offer all our Hampshire customers four weeks scaffolding hire included in our prices, regardless of if you only use it for a day or a week. Our prices are based on the type of scaffolding Portsmouth structure needed, location, access, and time it will take our scaffolders to erect.

Yes, for most scaffolds if you can supply enough information and images, then we should be able to provide you with a price over the telephone, however some scaffolding Portsmouth projects will require, looking at detailed drawings and site visits to ensure we provide a correct price.

If you need a scaffolding hire quote in a rush, please fill out the form at the top of this page, or if calling us please ensure you have the following information to hand as you will be asked for the below:

  • Name, address & telephone number?
  • Property type, how many storeys?
  • How many sides need scaffolds?
  • What is the structure being used for?
  • Estimated start date?
  • Scaffolding hire period?

We do not always need to come and visit your property or building as we can price some scaffolds from photos or Google earth. If we do need to make a site visit, we will let you know and arrange a convenient time to pop by, we will never arrive unannounced.

Our scaffolding Portsmouth company has £10million public and employee liability insurance.

Yes, all of our Portsmouth scaffolders hold CISRS cards, and are part one, part two and advanced qualified in scaffold erection. All the scaffolding erectors we employ have rigorous health and safety training on a regular basis to ensure we adhere to the latest regulations.

  • Uprights/standards – These are the tube that stand up vertically to create the frame and should be approximately 2.0m to 2.4m apart on standard scaffolds.
  • Ledger tube – They are the horizontal tube that are connected to the standards/uprights.
  • Brace tube – Braces are connected to the inside ledger tube and the outside standards. They usually face inwards on the bottom lift and outwards on all lifts above to give the structure increased strength.
  • Sway braces – This is usually a 10ft tube that goes on the outside of the structure diagonally and is placed on every fourth or fifth bay.
  • Transom tube – Are usually 5ft tubes that the boards rest on.
  • Handrails – We use tube to create a rail around the perimeter of the platform to prevent falling from height, these can be double or triple rails. The centre of the top handrail tube should be at a height of approximately 950mm above the boards.
  • Working platform – This is where boards are placed on top of the transoms to create a working lift.
  • Toe boards –  These boards are placed around the edge of the platforms to protect the user from falling, dropping their tools and equipment, or accidentally kicking things over the edge.
  • Stop end boards – These are toe boards that are placed either end of the scaffolding for fall prevention.

This is a very common issue within the local area because many of the townhouses and terraced properties do not have rear access.

However, this is not a problem for our experienced scaffolders. We will arrange a quick site visit so we can assess the best way for our team to get the tube and boards to the back of the building.

We will check to see if we are able to walk our tube and other equipment through your property, but there needs to be a clear run from the front to the back. However, if there is not then we will use shorter length boards and tube to make it easier for our lads to manoeuvre the equipment when going through your house.

We may also look to see if the neighbouring garden will allow us to bring our equipment through. Whatever the obstacle there is always a way of us getting our boards, tube and other materials where they need to be.

Scaffolding Portsmouth

We also offer optional extras:

Here is a small list of other services and products we also offer Hampshire clients:

Debris netting

You may require debris netting to be fixed to the scaffold if the works you are doing creates dust or there could be a risk of debris falling from height. Debris netting is an important feature on scaffolding Portsmouth platforms that are erected in a pedestrianised area or where there is a lot of people or vehicle traffic close by. Our scaffolders connect the debris netting to the outside perimeter of the frame using zip ties.

Scaffolding for sale

We OCCASIONALLY have surplus scaffolding equipment for sale. This can include boards, tube, couplers, and clamps. We also offer a delivery service (at an extra charge). Please drop us an email to check our current stocks and we can provide you with a quotation for the materials plus delivery. *Please note we are currently out of stock at our scaffolding Portsmouth depot*.

Scaffold ladders

Scaffolding ladders are an integral part of every scaffold as they are what provide our users with access to each working platform. They are fixed to the framework to ensure they are safe to use either internally or externally. The ladders we provide are made from heavy duty steel. We always ensure every structure that we put up has ladder access, however if you do need a few extra please ask.

DIY scaffold towers

On occasions you may wish to opt for a moveable tower as it may be more suitable for your project. We sometimes sell mobile scaffold towers that are made from aluminium and have castors as feet so you can easily manoeuvre them around. Aluminium towers are very versatile for smaller DIY projects in and outside of your home, which can include painting, window repairs, tree or bush cutting.

Scaffold hoists

We can also provide our scaffolding Portsmouth customers with scaffold hoists should your project require one, as these are often used by builders, roofers, solar panel, and window installers to help get their equipment and materials safely up onto the working lifts. We have a few different hoist options available, with the most common being a rope and gin wheel, or our electric hoists and winches.

Scaffolding licence

If you have a shop or property that is situated on a public path or highway, then the scaffold structure will require a pavement licence. These are obtained through Portsmouth council, which we will apply for on your behalf as we have the relevant insurances to cover the application. This can take 5-7 working days to be granted but once we have the permit, we will be able to erect the structure straight away.

Scaffolding inspection

If you are hiring scaffold from us for a long period, it is best practice for our scaffolders to perform a scaffolding inspection, and this is to ensure that the structure remains safe and has not been tampered with. We generally recommend an inspection every 7 days. Our advanced scaffolding erectors will sign off the structure each time using a Scaff tag.

Scaffold alarm

An alarm may be necessary on some projects especially on building sites, derelict buildings, or town or high street scaffolds. They are installed to the outside of the framework and will sound and trigger an alarm when the scaffolds are being trespassed. This will help prevent intruders from accessing the building and also climbing the framework and causing themselves injury. We can supply and install the scaffold alarm for you.

Scaffold design

On occasion some scaffolds will require a scaffold design, and this may be because we need to build a framework that is not a conventional type of structure or access is required at an extreme height. A design will be created by a qualified designer who will create a CAD drawing with calculations and recommend the exact amount of equipment that is required to build the structure safely. Our scaffolding Portsmouth design team comply with NASC TG20:13 standards.
